Have you every wanted to utilise and explore the built-in decorative stitches on your machine? If so, this workshop is for you!

£70 for the full day workshop £25 Deposit

In this workshop you will paint the webbing side of Bondaweb with metallic acrylic paints, dry with a hairdryer then iron onto a piece of black acrylic felt. Peel back the paper side of the Bondaweb to reveal the gorgeous painted colours.

Snippets of embroidery threads and tiny sequins are sprinkled over the surface and a piece of black organza is over-laid, then ironed to re-active the Bondaweb and make the threads adhere to the surface.

You will then stitch in rows (approx 3cms apart) using the various built-in decorative stitches on your machine.

Finally you will construct the notebook cover and finish the edges with a dense satin stitch.

Students to bring:

Sewing machine with a good selection of decorative stitches

Machine Manual

Various machine embroidery threads in lots of colours plus black for edges

Black Bobbin thread

Rotary cutter, ruler and cutting mat

Usual sewing kit: ie scissores, needles etc.

**I can also supply a quality casebound notebook at a cost of £5 or they can bring their own.

About your tutor

Helen Murchie is a textile artist, originally from Scotland, but now living in the south of England.

She designs and makes quality goods using mainly Harris Tweed and wool felt. Her designs use either applique or machine embroidery. The Tweed that she uses is sourced directly from the Isle of Harris
