Have you ever wanted to try Textile courses using free motion machine embroidery, but have only ever used your sewing machine for dressmaking? Come and join Sarah for a free motion tester session to learn the basics and prepare yourself for those Textile courses you aspire to.

What we will do:

• We will take our machines for a walk and learn how to use them to paint with thread

• We will learn basic free motion embroidery techniques to create shapes, texture and pattern.

• Use free motion to get some speed up!

I will provide:

• Calico for the base fabric

• Felt to stabilise

You will need to bring:

• Your sewing machine-which must be in full working order.

• Darning or quilting foot

• Machine threads, machine embroidery threads and metallic threads if you have any.

• Basic sewing kit

• A sense of adventure.

Things to do before the course:

• Please make sure you have a suitable darning or quilting foot (if you don't have one-speak to K&B Sewing Machines to get a generic foot.) Try to get an enclosed foot as the open toe foot can snag threads.

• You must be able to lower your feed dogs or have a suitable plate to cover them.

Please make sure you are familiar with your machine and that you know how to change thread, feet and know how to lower your feed dogs. If you are new to a machine then contact K&B Sewing Machines who can give you a 1:1 lesson.

Do not worry if you’ve never done free motion machining – we will work together to build your confidence and hopefully have a fun morning. Looking forward to meeting you all soon - Sarah
